The National Accounting Talent Search (NATS) is an initiative launched by the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Income Tax in 2011. This is an annual event, which aims to enhance awareness about accounting and identify potential learners who have an interest in accounting as a career and nurture their talent.
About 3 000 learners from various schools countrywide had participated in this competition since its inception. NATS has a fully-fledged data-base which is accessible to various stakeholders. This enables auditing firms and other stakeholders to short list learners for bursaries/scholarships. NATS is governed by a board which has members from University of Namibia (UNAM), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia (ICAN), Schools and Ministry of Education.
